Blake and Glenna

I would like to share the great impact that my Chocolate Lab, Blake, had at Christ Hospital in the ICU for a family.

The nurse was taking care of a young man who was dying of cancer. On that evening it happened that his two young sons were visiting at the same time as Blake and myself was there. The elder of the two boys, who was only 10, had never been in the room to visit while his Dad was in the ICU.  He was devastated by impending loss of his father and stayed in the waiting room. The patient's family had gotten the young man into the unit and as far as the door when Blake arrived. When Blake went into the room, the young man was able to follow Blake in. Blake put is big brown nose at the man's hand and gave him a big lick. After the visit he was able to spend the evening with his father. He eventually did get in bed with his dad and was able to talk to his dad and shed some tears. The patient died the next morning, but the ICU nurse, staff, and doctors, told me that they are sure that Blake was a huge part of the last night of his life and I am sure that Blake made a huge difference in his family.

Thank you for letting me share this story, I have lots of touching stories, but this one will always be my one to remember.
